Welcome to my blog

Today is a beautiful rainy spring day in Seldovia. A little wind, a little sun and here and there some sprinkles of rain.

I am making some homemade soup and finishing up some artwork. I am so glad you stopped by..please get yourself a cup of coffee and join me in my kitchen studio.

I have a regular studio upstairs ...but to tell you the truth..my kitchen table is where I do most of my art....with a cup of coffee and good friends stopping by to chat. Sit down and stay awhile..I am never too busy for company!

Workshop with Carolyn Turgeon

Yesterday I went to my first ever "writing" workshop. We are so lucky here in Seldovia to have Carolyn Turgeon agree to teach a 3 day workshop for people who want to learn to improve their writing skills.

She is amazingly easy to talk to and I learned so much at last nights session! I am hoping to get a photo of her and I tonight so that I can post it here.

I am beyond excited!!!

Judith Lethin is hosting her and the Arts Council...Thank you!

Tutu on and trimmed!

I got her tutu glued on and trimmed. Her hair sort of done. She still needs red ribbons for her ponytails. But so far I am happy with the outcome. Deb Wood is a wonderful teacher and these classes are taught through the website  www.aforartistic.com  lots of classes to pick from. Check it out if you get a chance.

Progress on Patti class

Well today I got the arms on my little Petit Four Patti and her heart top and straps to her tutu on. She is in baking right now. So as soon and she is done I will post a photo.

Those arms and straps took me longer than I thought. I put off the straps for awhile because I didn't have the correct colors...but I just decided to use what I had. I did order the red tutu material and it got here today. So she will have a red tutu.

Here are some of the little gentlemen. So cute and courtly. They are about 3-4 inches high and everyone is different. Some have beards and lots of hair. I see this old crab has chest hair.
I call her the "Queen of the Silver Dollar" she is so grand looking with her earrings and flashy diamond ring.

My little crabby guys

The last two days I have been working on getting these shells cleaned so that I can set them to dry. These are how they look when I first get them. There is a lot of work still to do at this point. Boil them, clean them out, make sure all the little worms and critters are out. Because if you miss even one, you will need to go back and check every single one to see which one is stinking the place up.
Then I bleach them...just to cover all possibilities. And then they need to dry for a couple of months. That chamber goes way back and curls several times and moisture can get stuck.
Only them can I sculpt a little crabby guy or gal to go inside. This little pink lady is not quite finished but she is on her way. Beside her is a shell waiting for an occupant.

Arms Next

I have her arms all rolled out and ready to make and all of a sudden I just got so very tired. Maybe I over did it today. Trying to get all the shells done and sculpt and then Thomas came and hauled a weeks worth of wood. Then I made dinner.....so I am going to go watch Netflix. Tomorrow is another day. And I am ready to put her arms on and bake.

Happy Valentines Day Class

This week I have started working on a new sculpting class with Deb Wood. She is teaching a class called Petit Four Patti. You can check it out at www.aforartistic.com . She is an amazing teacher and artist. Here is where I am at so far. There are several other artists taking this class, I am not sure exactly how many, but online classes let you meet artists from all over the world!

A doll with problems

This is a Wendy Froud style doll that so many things went wrong with that I stopped and started a new one. But I just love the face. But the whites of the eyes turned yellow and that just isn't going to work for me.

Beginning the mermaid

Here she is in the beginning all hand sculpted from the wire out. Seems like it took me forever.

Mermaid Finished

Here is the finished Mermaid. I don't know what they named her but, she went to Michael Patrick's sister for her Christmas Present. I don't know if she has arrived yet or not.

Haven't posted in a long time....I promise to do better! Here is a mermaid I made for a friends sister for her birthday!
